16 billion years ago , the universe did not exist . or , 16 billion years ago the universe was to small for the human mind to comprehend . anyway , 16 billion years ago , the universe became big enough for us to comprehend . fast . at this point the universe was an energy plasma . as this plasma expanded , it cooled , and formed quarks and leptons , which cooled and formed protons and electrons . these formed hydrogen atoms . so now the universe is a rapidly expanding cloud of hydrogen . as this cloud expanded and cooled , gravity acted on the bigger clouds , which collapsed and formed stars . the fission of the atoms at the center igniting the fire . so 5 billion years ago the universe is a expanding cloud of hydrogen with stars . our sun was created and so were the planets in its orbit , forming our solar system five billion years ago .
3 billion years ago life was " accidentally " created . lucky us . this bacteria or whatever evolved into algea and plants and fish and reptiles and mammal and humans and finally , computers . good times .
so , humans evolved 3 million years ago . humans started to farm and form tools and languages and societies .
2500 years ago the greeks formed the civilization that we still have today . around the same time , buddha , from nepal , came up with some groovy philosophy . he basically figured out that we cant really " know " that the universe exists , we can only " know " that our perception of the universe exists . so , if the universe does exist , great , and we should certainly assume that it does . if , however , the universe does not exist , then we are in some kind of meta physical deal , which , well , I wont bore you with the details of that .
so , then modern religions formed and then the industrial revolution happened in europ 300 years ago and it has been pedal to the metal ever since .
a few decades ago the modern environmental movement was created and thats where we are now . as environmentalists , we may be outnumbered , but , if we stay logical we should be able to pull this one out . the alternative is increasingly , uh , grim .
so , thats the history of the universe , so far , but there is still more history yet to be made , so lets get it on .
.
